2006 Dr John's Single Vineyard Shiraz
This single vineyard Shiraz was sourced from an elevated site in Blewitt Springs, McLaren Vale. The vines used for this individual release average 60 years in age, producing small quantities of rich, healthy grapes. The 2006 vintage produced excellent Shiraz in McLaren Vale and a small portion was held back after two years
of maturation in new and second French and American oak barrels.
Flavours of Raspberries, Liquorice, Fruit Cake, Plums and Vanilla Bean the palate is full but luscious with firm, round tannins.
Only 1200 six packs of this wine were produced in 2010.
Dr John Possingham is a legend in the Australian wine industry.
A research graduate of Adelaide and Oxford Universities, Dr John implemented the mechanisatioin of vine trellising, harvesting
and pruning in Australia in the 1960's. His research techniques are used in wine regions all over the world, forever changing the dynamics of the modern global wine industry.
After ten years of producing the successful export label "Possums Wines", the introduction of winemaker Pieter Breugem to the Possums Vineyard group has given rise to "Dr John's Wines".
These wines are limited in production and are only made from single vineyard sites within Possums Vineyards.
